This session will highlight women’s leadership in climate resilience and biodiversity protection across Latin America, through experiences supported by the EUROCLIMA and Amazonía+ programmes. It will showcase the work of women firefighters in Guatemala, Bolivia, and the Dominican Republic, Afro-descendant women in Peru leading territorial conservation, and women ranchers in Uruguay promoting sustainable livestock management. The event will underline Spain’s and the European Union’s commitment to gender equality in climate action, the feminist foreign policy of Spain, and the relevance of women’s participation in local adaptation strategies and the green transition. Spain plays a leading role in promoting feminist and inclusive climate cooperation, combining technical knowledge, local empowerment, and policy innovation. Through its cooperation agencies— and participation in Team Europe, Spain brings a model that connects gender equality, territorial governance, and environmental resilience, placing women at the center of the green and just transition in Latin America.

  • Highlight the intersection between gender, territory, and climate resilience in forest, agricultural, and coastal ecosystems.
  • Emphasize Spain’s feminist foreign policy and its integration into climate and development cooperation.
