Healthy and resilient forests are essential for mitigating and adapting to climate change, protecting biodiversity, and sustaining rural livelihoods. Yet current land-use transitions fall short of global targets. To support the acceleration of forest- and land use transitions globally, this event will highlight lessons from national governments and international institutions on governance arrangements that effectively drive forest transitions and halt deforestation and degradation. It will also explore how stronger coordination between national and international efforts can accelerate progress toward climate mitigation and adaptation goals, as well as biodiversity goals.

  • Accelerate land use transitions by highlighting effective governance solutions from different countries.
  • Sharing experiences on such governance solutions across countries and organisations.
