The climate crisis is the defining challenge of our time, affecting every sector of society. It drives inequality, fuels conflict and undermines progress toward sustainable development. In this context, bold and inclusive climate action is not only urgent—it is essential.
AECID and UNDP have long been committed to advancing climate action. AECID was a founding partner of UNDP’s Climate Promise and its predecessor, the NDC Support Programme, supporting developing countries in enhancing and implementing their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). This enduring partnership has delivered tangible results in countries such as Guatemala, Honduras, Mauritania, Palestine, Senegal, Tunisia, El Salvador, Cuba, the Philippines, and Cabo Verde. Event Rationale.
COP30 in Brazil marks a pivotal moment—the 10th anniversary of the Paris Agreement. Many countries will arrive with updated NDCs and high expectations for increased ambition to be matched by bold financial support. This milestone offers a strategic opportunity for Spain and UNDP to spotlight the real-world impact of their collaboration through an engaging, country-led event.
